2025 is around the corner, and we can't wait to decorate our living room like a real interior champ.

Predictions are coming, and I specifically will be taking some notes from the infamous New York designer, Ahmad AbouZanat, which says that the living room will play a significant role in home entertainment. The crave of real interaction has led people to include and transform their living rooms into a central compound for gathering purposes where guests and families can mingle over cocktails and desserts instead of dining room or bar areas only.

1. Chit-Chat Layouts

Living Room Trends 2025 with many chairs and seater

Homeowners nowadays are focusing on layouts that can create an atmosphere that ignites conversation. Sasha Bikoff (a New York-based designer) explains that she's been busy with clients to design multi-facet living rooms with seating groups that are oriented toward promoting group fellowships and activities. And also, armless settees are sometimes a preferred choice due to their flexible build.

2. Versatile Furnishings

These days, people prefer a living room with changeable layout. This may be influenced by how easily people nowadays to get bored. Lighter antique chairs, easily move coffee table and cordless lamps demand are skyrocketed. AbouZanat specifically calls out that the age of the bulky coffee table is fading. Instead, people are gravitating toward stylish smaller drink tables and versatile ottomans.

3. Moody and Bolder Color Palettes

Social media can sometimes create a barrier to genuine, in-person connections. As this trend grows, people are increasingly drawn to creating cozy, inviting atmospheres in their homes, especially in living spaces. In response, designers predict a rise in demand for rich, warm hues like mustard, plum, and olive, which add a moody yet comforting feel to interiors.

4. Durable Materials

The trend of making the living room an entertainment and everyday life central compound is in high demand right now, as observed by architect and designer Ruard Veltman and his team: Julia Palen Wood, Maggie Mardre, and Relly King. People seek furnishings and materials that can withstand the wear and tear of daily use, especially with the rise of furniture and appliances' prices.

5. Going Extra for Lighting

After a long era of minimalism and efficiency, people enthusiastically embrace more detail and focus on the art they may inspire through everyday interior objects in their house. According to Bikoff (a New York-based designer), 2025 will gain momentum to create art through lighting installations at home.

6. Install Antiques for Meaning

In today’s rapid, hyper-connected digital age, an increasing number of people feel a loss of purpose and meaning in their lives. Many are now seeking deeper connections and fulfillment through cherished family heirlooms and other meaningful objects. Whether by restoring these old keepsakes or investing in historical antiques with cultural and artistic significance, 2025 will see a growing focus on preserving these often centuries-old pieces, ensuring they remain valued for generations.
